Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is now wanted by Serie A side Fiorentina.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, the Colombian goalscorer has emerged as an option for La Viola, who are said to be ‘desperate’ to land a new number nine.
Morelos is apparently their top target this window, but they’ll have to fork out around €20 million/£18 million to sign the South American.
In order to stand a chance of landing the 24-year-old, the club will first need to offload some players.
The development comes after there had been interested in Morelos from Lille, but the French side went on the secure deals for Jonathan David and Burak Yilmaz.
Morelos has been an unused substitute in each of Rangers’ last two matches.
TBR’s View – Rangers should stand firm
Rangers should continue to stand firm with their £18 million price tag.
Given Moussa Dembele left Celtic for a reported £19.7 million (Sky Sports), the asking price is probably about fair.
Realistically, Rangers need a player of Morelos’ quality in their ranks if they are to stop Celtic from scooping a tenth straight league title.
But equally, Kemar Roofe has made a promising start at Ibrox, and money from Morelos’ sale can go towards enhancing other areas of the team.
