Rangers are set to win the race to sign Fashion Sakala, with the Gers able to agree a pre-contract deal ahead of a summer move to Ibrox, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (21/2; page 63).

The Light Blues boast a fantastic group of attacking players this term. However, it appears that Steven Gerrard is hoping to make a further addition in that area of the field.

Sakala has scored 13 goals in 24 top flight games for Oostende this season. He has also contributed three assists.

However, his side could be powerless to stopping the Zambia international leaving in the coming months.

As noted by The Sun on Sunday (21/2; page 63), Sakala is out of contract in the summer. And it is claimed that several Championship sides want to bring him to England.

However, he may well be Ibrox-bound. According to the report, Rangers are set to win the race to sign the striker.

TBR View: Sakala arrival would be coup for Gers

Rangers have the attacking quality to get themselves over the line in the title race this season. But it makes a lot of sense to strengthen their options further.

Jermain Defoe is coming towards the end of his career. Meanwhile, Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a move away in almost every window since his arrival.

Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten have shown glimpses of quality. However, Roofe has struggled with injury this season. And Itten has perhaps struggled to stamp his authority on a place in the side when he has been given a chance.
