Report: Rangers reject two £6m bids for midfielder

Sporx claim that Rangers have decided to reject two offers in the region of £6million for Ianis Hagi, from Sevilla and Lazio. Steven Gerrard recently spoke of how Rangers might have to sell players to balance the books this summer. But the £6million offers fall below Hagi’s £9.5million price tag.

Hagi, 22, has made an excellent start to the season after shining in his first full season during 2020-21. Initially joining the Gers on loan from Genk in January 2020, he has since gone on to produce 31 goal involvements in 61 games. Scoring 13, the Romania international has also laid on 18 assists.

But he has always been linked with a move. Now, Gerrard says there could be sales – with the Athletic reporting a £14.4million loss. But Sporx say Lazio and Sevilla have made £6million offers, while Galatasaray also bid £3.5million. But Rangers want a lot more, around £9.5million for Hagi.

Rangers right to reject Hagi bids – £9.5m a fair price

For a player that is still only 22 but is getting better game by game under the guidance of Gerrard – Rangers can do better than £6million. Indeed, keeping Hagi for another season and letting him prosper under Gerrard in the Europa League will see his value increase further. £6million is not enough.

But as Rangers state, £9.5million would prove a lot more tempting. It is believed Rangers signed Hagi permanently from Genk for around £4million. So, doubling their money on Hagi and more, would be excellent business but given his form – it is fair, too.
