Report: Rangers receive Premier League approach that is causing uncertainty
Rangers have reportedly been approached by an unnamed Premier League club about manager Steven Gerrard.
According to GiveMeSport, Scottish giants Rangers are working on sorting a new contract for Gerrard. However, the report states a Premier League side have complicated matters.
It is understood that a team from the English top flight has made an offer for the Gers manager.
Gerrard, 40, is still under contract until 2024.
Rangers fans will be encouraged by the fact Ibrox officials are trying to sort a new deal to secure the future of their Liverpool-born manager.
He’s just completed history during his third season in charge of the club, winning the league title with an unbeaten record to end Celtic’s era of dominance.
As the Light Blues look ahead to next year, they won’t want any lingering doubts over their manager’s future.
Rangers must block out any Premier League temptation for Steven Gerrard
If Gerrard doesn’t manage boyhood club Liverpool at some stage in his career, it would be a massive shock.
However, it’s still too early in his managerial career to make that jump, and it’s easy to forget he’s still working with his first club.
The process he’s overseen at Ibrox in the last few years is staggering. Rangers, who were miles behind Celtic when he joined in 2018, are now the much stronger of the Glaswegian teams.
Gerrard now has a side who play eye-catching attacking football. Rangers fans won’t want him leaving at any point in the near future.
