Ianis Hagi is reportedly on the verge of completing a permanent switch to Rangers this summer after an excellent half-season loan period at Ibrox – with KRC Genk initially confirming such a move before deleting the article on their website.
BBC Sport report that a story had been published on Genk’s website, stating that Rangers had completed a permanent move for the 21-year-old wide man. However, they then deleted the article, but informed BBC Sport that a deal was close.
Though a permanent deal is not yet completed, Sky Sports have explained the breakdown of the agreed fee. Indeed, it is believed Rangers will only pay £3million for Hagi – and such a fee will be paid to Genk over the course of three seasons.
In 12 league and cup appearances, Hagi found the back of the net three times and looked head and shoulders above some of Rangers other attackers despite the Gers struggling after the winter break.

TBR’s view – Hagi deal deserves enormous praise
Hagi showed both in the Europa League and in the Scottish Premiership that he has the ability to change a game with a flash of either foot. Creating a goal, scoring, or just getting fans onside with a bit of skill, Hagi is more than capable.
To land the playmaker for a bargain £3million figure is outstanding in itself, but to only have to pay £1million per season for the next three campaign is simply incredible business. Director of Football Ross Wilson deserves enormous praise.
