Report: Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack offered lucrative new contract

Ryan Jack has played 13 games this season.

Rangers are ready to reward Ryan Jack with a brand new contract. According to The Scottish Sun, Steven Gerrard wants Rangers to tie down Jack’s long-term future with a lucrative new contract offer.

Jack has been a mainstay in Gerrard’s midfield and he played his 13th game of the season against St Johnstone. That followed an assured display in the middle of the park against Feyenoord in the Europa League last Thursday.

The Scotland international operates in a midfield three in Gerrard’s system and he is an integral part of the club’s plans. He seems settled at Ibrox and Gerrard believes his long-term future lies at Ibrox.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Gerrard said: “He is working with a group of staff who have confidence and belief in him. If anyone deserves a pay rise and an extension, it is him. He has earned the right to have that shirt and Jacko’s mentality is, ‘No one will take this off me.’ ”

TBR’s view

Jack is not the most exciting player but his importance to the team cannot be understated. The 27-year-old keeps things ticking over in the midfield and does the underappreciated work.

Every team needs a player like Jack to keep things tidy. Tying him down to a long-term contract will be a great bit of business for the Gers as they continue to push on under Gerrard.
