Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas is reportedly being chased by two teams from League Two in England.

According to the Scottish Sun, the 20-year-old is wanted on loan by Mansfield Town and Macclesfield town.

It is understood that the two teams are battling it out for his signature and have until Monday’s deadline to wrap up a deal.

The report details that the Gers will allow the youngster’s exit on loan for the upcoming campaign and he could be heading to England.

Barjonas spent the first half of last season on loan with Bury, before joining Scottish League One outfit Raith Rovers for the remainder of the campaign.

He’s a central midfielder that has come through the academy at box and has played nine first-team games for the Light Blues, but has fallen so far down the pecking order under current manager Steven Gerrard.

TBR’s View:

With just one year left on his contract at Ibrox, it makes sense for Barjonas to depart on loan and he needs to make a big impression if he’s to carve out a future for himself at Rangers.

There is unfortunately an abundance of quality options in the midfield for Gerrard to choose from and it looks unlikely that the academy graduate can make the step up.

He previously had a taste of senior action with the Gers, but has started the new campaign playing with the youth team so a loan should appeal to him.
