Report: Rangers make contact over 20-year-old midfielder who's a 'genius', £3.5m price tag
Glasgow Rangers have reportedly made contact over potentially bringing Alhassan Yusuf to Ibrox, according to SCORENigeria.
The Gers are looking to bolster their ranks and build on last season’s Scottish Premiership title triumph.
Although Rangers have just signed John Lundstram on a free, Steven Gerrard might well be looking for more additions in midfield.
SCOREnigeria claim that the Light Blues, as well as English Premier League newcomers Brentford, have enquired about the IFK Goteborg ace.
The outlet claims the Swedes are open to selling Yusuf, who has one year left on his contract, for 3m to 4m euro (£2.5m to £3.5m).
The 20-year-old has also been linked with Wolves, Sheffield United and Club Brugge.
Yusuf made 29 league appearances last season, 28 of which came as a starter.
IFK chief scout Olle Sultan has tipped the midfielder for success.
“A ball winner and genius in one,” SCORENigeria quotes him as saying in February.
“There’s a bit to learn, that’s it, but he can really be great. His development has been pretty amazing.
“I have believed in him very much all the time. He has learned on the way to becoming less naive.
“The touch is very nice and he is always so oriented and has such control on the ball.
“The press game is good and he is aggressive. When he eventually gets a little more power, he will be a good ball winner as well.
“In addition, he is a great guy who flows nicely in the group.”
