Rangers are apparently interested in signing Anderlecht and Wales defender James Lawrence.
The 26-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for Steven Gerrard according to The Daily Record who claim he could cost the Ibrox club around £3 million to sign.
Championship clubs Stoke City and Swansea City are also named in the report as being interested in Lawrence, who made 35 appearances last term.
Liverpool legend Gerrard is after defensive reinforcements, with Joe Worrall having headed back to Nottingham Forest following his loan.
Apparently Lawrence’s future at Anderlecht is uncertain with Vincent Kompany set to take up player/manager duties ahead of 2019/20.
The Gers are desperate for some fresh impetus in central defence and Lawrence could well be a good signing.
The star has enjoyed an interesting career path so far, starting out at Arsenal and then QPR as a child, before heading to the Netherlands to further his footballing education.
He actually got his break with Slovakian side AS Trenčín and played for them for four years before joining Anderlecht last summer.
Lawrence being left-sided would be good for the balance of things, and his abiliy to play in midfield is also a bonus.
