Football London has claimed Rangers are one of seven clubs interested in signing Chelsea playmaker Conor Gallagher on loan this month, as the youngster weighs up whether to remain at Charlton on loan – or try something new.
Gallagher, 19, has been in stunning form for newly-promoted Championship side Charlton this season. Missing just one of Charlton’s 26 Championship matches, Gallagher has hand a hand in nine goals – scoring six and creating three more.
However, with the January window now in full flow, England Under-21 international Gallagher is said to be considering his options as he could return to Chelsea and go on loan elsewhere – given that he has not played for Chelsea this term.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have already nabbed Joe Aribo from Charlton in the summer and they are keen on luring Gallagher north of the border. West Brom, Norwich, Burnley, Swansea and Millwall are also keen, while Charlton want to keep him.

TBR’s view – Gallagher needs constant first-team football
At Rangers, he simply will not get the required minutes to continue his development. Even though Andy King has returned to Leicester this month, Gerrard’s side still boast a whole host of central-midfield talent.
Aribo is one, along with Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Andy Halliday and Greg Docherty. Gallagher would certainly get the odd substitute appearance and maybe even start the odd game, but that is not enough.
If he remains at Charlton, it is likely he will pass the 40-game barrier this season and that is simply excellent for his development. Remaining at The Valley is best for the Chelsea youngster.
