Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is reportedly set to exit Ibrox on loan.
According to the Daily Record, the 21-year-old is going to leave the Light Blues on a temporary basis to experience more first-team action.
The report details that the shot-stopper is going to join Scottish Championship side Queen of the South on a six-month loan deal and return in January to push for a first-team spot with the Gers.
McCrorie is a product of the Rangers academy and tipped for a bright future, but is obtaining senior experience elsewhere at his young age.
He’s already had loan spells with Berwick Rangers and Greenock Morton in the past, with another stint out on loan now expected.
McCrorie is doing the right thing by improving his game at the senior level and it should help in the long run.
Allan McGregor appears to have the number one jersey nailed down in Steven Gerrard’s squad as it stands, while the likes of Wes Foderingham and Jack Alnwick also provide alternative options.
McCrorie doesn’t look ready for the step up yet in the Rangers first-team, but is a star for the future and at some point the team will need to find a successor to veteran McGregor.
The Scotland Under-21 international should use his expected spell at Queen of the South as another learning curve and to try catch Gerrard’s attention.
