Rangers are reportedly considering making a move for Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy.
According to The Daily Record, Steven Gerrard is keeping tabs on the 24-year-old in case players are moved on from Ibrox.
The former England captain is said to be a big fan of Murphy, who only has a year remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park and could be available on the cheap.

Murphy cost the Magpies a reported £12 million back in 2017 (BBC Sport), but has never really gotten going for the Premier League outfit.
The star has had two loan spells since joining the club, one at West Bromwich Albion and one at Sheffield Wednesday last season – where he returned nine goals in 44 appearances.
Newcastle are said to be open to offers for £25,000-a-week star Murphy (Spotrac), although the player has not given up hope of playing a role for Steve Bruce.
TBR’s View – Sell to buy
At the moment Gerrard has wide options in abundance, meaning a move for Murphy makes little sense without selling first.

Perhaps Greg Stewart, Brandon Barker, Jamie Murphy or Jordan Jones would have to depart first in order to accommodate Murphy.
Given Murphy’s contract situation, there is a good opportunity to bring in a quality player for a cut-price fee.
So long as priority areas like central midfield are not ignored, a cheap move for Murphy could be a shrewd one by Gerrard.
