Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keeping an eye on Fatai Gbadamosi, but the Ibrox camp is joined in the race by rivals Celtic, according to 90Min.
The 22-year-old, a defensive midfielder, plays for Nigerian second-tier side Shooting Stars and has been described as “sensational” for his club side (Inside Oyo).
In addition, Gbadamosi has represented Nigeria at international level.
He was a member of the Dream Team VII squad during the qualifiers for the 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations and has been capped by the CHAN Eagles.
Gbadamosi also played at the WAFU Cup in 2019, with Goal.com listing him as one of the Nigeria players who were “too good”.
They wrote: “The Shooting Stars midfield man impressed for Nigeria, demonstrating his qualities as a midfield general and a reference point for those players around him.
“He tackled effectively, protecting those behind him, and will be a valuable asset for the U-23 team at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
“At this rate, expect the midfielder to return to Europe before too long.”
According to Allnigeriasoccer, Gbadamosi – who previously played in Turkey – possesses an excellent range of passing in his repertoire and is comfortable shooting with both feet.
Credit to the Old Firm sides for spotting such a talented youngster – Gbadamosi may play for a modest club but what has been written about him suggests he could be a good shout for a big move.
Whether Gbadamosi manages to secure a work permit remains to be seen, but if not, he’s certainly one for the future and most likely won’t set either club back much in terms of transfer fee.
