Rangers are reportedly battling it out with Premier League champions and UCL quarter-finalists Manchester City to sign Kilmarnock youngster Liam Smith (The Scottish Sun).
The 16-year-old starlet is highly rated at Rugby Park and is predicted to have a bright future in the game.
Smith is already a Scotland U16 international, and recently scored the winner against Malta in a three-team tournament in March.
The left winger is a part of the Scottish FA’s performance school, and has already represented Kilmarnock’s U20s at the age of 14.
Rangers are said to be keen on signing Smith, who could potentially be a gem in a few years.
TBR’s view
Smith has apparently already been down visiting Manchester City’s facilities, so Rangers may have a tough battle on their hands.
The teenager has a brilliant burst of pace and could potentially be a real menace with good coaching.

Steven Gerrard will hope the lure of Rangers will be enough to see Smith reject City, as it would be more of a natural step for him to take.
Smith’s rapid progress so far would indicate he has all the makings of brilliant winger in Scottish football.
