Rangers are reportedly eyeing Hearts defender Aaron Hickey ahead of the next transfer window.
According to the Scottish Sun, new Gers Sporting Director Ross Wilson is set to recommend a January swoop for him.
It is understood that Wilson has the 17-year-old on his radar and wants to urge Rangers boss Steven Gerrard into a £2million move.
The report explains that Hearts are currently in talks with Hickey about extending his deal at Tynecastle.
Rangers announced Ross Wilson as the club’s new Director on Monday and he previously has experience in the Premier league with Southampton.
Hickey is an exciting upcoming talent in Scotland and it seems inevitable that he will move on from Hearts eventually, even if they are trying to get him to commit his future beyond 2021 at Tynecastle.
The teenager is a left-back by trade that loves to bomb forward, but has shown his versatility to play anywhere across the backline when needed.
He’s already a regular in the Hearts first-team and has played 12 senior games across all competitions this season, which included him scoring in a win over rivals Hibernian.
The ex-Celtic defender could be a potential bargain at around £2million and is being tipped for a big future in the game.
Hickey will be hoping he can emulate the likes of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney in becoming top Scottish full-backs.
