Website KickOff have claimed that sources have confirmed Rangers are close to agreeing a fee for Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu, after the South Africa international suffered relegation from France’s top tier.
Zungu, 27, has been linked with Rangers for the majority of the transfer window. However, Steven Gerrard’s side have failed to agree a fee for the 24-time international up until now, with Zungu in the final 12 months of his current deal.
Amiens are struggling in France’s second tier despite just being relegated from Ligue 1, sitting in a lowly 17th place and Zungu has refused to sign a new contract. The latest report states that Rangers are ‘close to agreeing a fee’ for the midfielder.
Turkish outfit Yeni Malatyaspor and Olympiakos have made contact to sign Zungu, but it is believed the player has agreed personal terms with Rangers and a fee is nearly there. Whether a move can be secured before the deadline, remains to be seen.

TBR’s view – Zungu addition needed
Ryan Jack remains on the sidelines through injury and with the Scottish club set to embark on a Europa League campaign following a win over Galatasaray, they need cover in midfield – with Gerrard preferring to use three central midfielders.
The Record claimed earlier this summer that Zungu is rated at £3.5million and a fee would certainly be a bargain for Rangers, especially given that he played 21 times in France’s top tier last term. A good deal for Rangers.
