Give Me Sport claim members of the Rangers board are concerned that Tottenham’s failure to appoint a manager could lead them to Steven Gerrard. Moves to bring in Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso have all fallen short. Now, Rangers boss Gerrard could become a target for Tottenham.
The report states that claims Gerrard, 41, was a target for Tottenham back in March were untrue. But after multiple failed attempts to replace Jose Mourinho, the Rangers hierarchy is becoming increasingly concerned. They feel that Gerrard could be the next manager that Spurs turn to.
It is also claimed that Rangers tried to extend Gerrard’s stay at Rangers. He has a contract until the summer of 2024, but a move to extend his contract hit the rocks – when an unnamed Premier League side made an offer. It remains to be seen what club that was, and if Spurs do become interested.

Should Tottenham go after Rangers boss Gerrard?
If his stint in Glasgow is anything to go by, then yes. Since taking over at Rangers, he has guided them to mass improvement every year. Improving the club’s finances with improved form in Europe – Gerrard’s men have now stopped Celtic from 10 in a row. They also went unbeaten, and have qualified for the Champions League.
A fluid 4-3-3 system sees Rangers boast flying wing-backs, a hard-working engine room, and an overlapping front three that is impossible to mark. Much like Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The question mark is that, if he joined Tottenham, could that prove detrimental to his beloved Liverpool?
