Rangers have reignited their interest in Bongani Zungu after talks over a potential Ibrox move broke down earlier in the summer, according to a report from The Scotsman.
The South Africa international has been linked with a move to Rangers at various stages throughout the window. The Scotsman has even suggested that he passed a medical with the Light Blues before talks broke down back in July.
But with the deadline looming, it would appear that a move may be back on the cards.
According to The Scotsman, Rangers remain in talks with Amiens in the hope of agreeing a deal before the deadline.
The report notes that the Ligue 2 side previously wanted around £3.6 million. However, it is also reported that he is free to agree a pre-contract with a new club in January. So perhaps, his asking price could yet come down.
TBR View: Zungu deal would see Rangers end window on high
Signing Zungu – who is also wanted by Olympiacos and sides in La Liga – could potentially be a great way for Rangers to round off their window.
He is capable of playing in a variety of midfield roles. Zungu has predominantly played in central or holding midfield. However, he is more than capable of playing further forward.
So it will be interesting to see if Rangers now manage to get a deal done having seemingly expected to miss out on him earlier in the window.
