Rangers are interested in bringing John Lundstram to Ibrox this summer, according to a report from the Sheffield Star, but the Gers face plenty of competition for his signature.

The Sheffield Star notes that Chris Wilder is still hoping that Lundstram will accept the Blades’ final contract offer on the table having previously turned it down.

But the 26-year-old is also attracting plenty of attention. The report claims that West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion are also eyeing a move. However, it is also stated that no club has made an approach so far.

TBR View: Resolution on Lundstram’s future could be imminent

As noted by the Star, Lundstram is out of contract next summer. So it seems highly likely that much of the confusion over his future could evaporate over the coming weeks.

The Blades will surely not want to lose him for free. He scored five goals and provided three assists in the Premier League last season. So they can certainly demand a decent fee for him.

And if he will not sign a new contract by the time the window reaches the home straight, then perhaps United will actively work to try and move him on before the deadline.

After all, if his future remains undecided heading into January, Rangers may be able to take pole position and discuss a pre-contract deal.
