Manchester Evening News have claimed that Rangers, West Ham United and AZ Alkmaar all have a chance of signing Manchester United youngster Dion McGhee, with the attacking midfielder expected to leave Old Trafford.

McGhee, 19, is out of contract at Manchester United this summer and the MEN have recently claimed McGhee would not sign a new deal before his contract expires at the end of the month. The left-footed ace has broken into United’s senior side.

The report states that three clubs are in with a shout of landing McGhee, including Rangers and West Ham United as well as Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar. Naturally an attacking midfielder, McGhee can also play out wide or even as a left-back.

Rangers have taken advantage of the lack of agreeing a compensation fee which English clubs must do. West Ham will have to pay Manchester United more than Rangers and AZ will do so, with the Gers already landing Calvin Bassey from Leicester.

TBR’s view – Rangers would be McGhee’s best move

Signing for AZ would see McGhee have to leave his known surroundings, having been born in Oldham. A move to West Ham would see him remain in England, but he would hardly get any senior game time with the Hammers.

Joining Rangers would allow McGhee to get plenty of game time given the Rangers need to qualify for Europa League action as well as having to deal with plenty of cup fixtures and league games. Ibrox is his best move.
