Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield has emerged as a summer target for Premier League club Southampton.
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton have been attracted to the performances of the 30-year-old in Scotland and have a “concrete interest” in taking him to St Mary’s.
It is understood that the Gers have a battle to keep hold of the Canada international and they value him at around £3million.
Steven Gerrard signed Arfield in the summer for Rangers when his deal at Burnley expired and he’s enjoyed a decent first season at Ibrox.
The attacking midfielder has made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and supplying seven assists in return.
He’s recently hit top form for the Light Blues, with a hat-trick in his last match during an away victory at Motherwell.
Rangers are in danger of losing one of their most consistent performers at the end of the season and it could be a backwards step if he leaves.
The versatile midfielder is capable of slotting in at wide or central roles and is an experienced figure in the Ibrox dressing room.
His overall goal contribution has been vital to trying to ease the load off striker Alfredo Morelos and they could struggle to replace him.
But the interest from Southampton is a concern for certain and they are currently just above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Arfield is under contract with Rangers until 2022 still, but the option could be there to make a sizeable profit on a player.
