Aaron Ramsdale turned to the Arsenal bench to express his frustration during the first-half of their defeat to Newcastle with one instruction issued to him clearly not doing the side any favours at St James’ Park, according to a report from Football London.
The Gunners suffered a hugely damaging defeat on Tyneside. Heading into Monday, the race for the top-four was still in Mikel Arteta’s sides’ hands. However, that is no longer the case.

Arsenal were well off the pace and beaten 2-0 by Eddie Howe’s side. The two goals came in the second-half, with Ben White scoring an own goal and Bruno Guimaraes doubling the lead. But in truth, Gunners fans would have been fearing the worst from the first-half with how the contest played out.
Arsenal struggled. And Ramsdale was one of those who could not hide his annoyance.

Football London reports that Ramsdale had clearly been instructed to try and distribute the ball out to the left flank. However, the England international was having little success with those kicks.
And when another of those passes failed, Ramsdale turned to the Arsenal bench to express his frustration at being asked to persist with the tactic.
Ramsdale frustration at Arsenal bench
Ramsdale’s frustration encapsulated how the large majority of Arsenal fans probably felt about the game.
It was clear that things were not going to plan. And yet, they failed to change their tactics and just persisted with something that simply was not working.
Arteta’s critics may suggest that he had little idea of how to change the game.
Certainly, the Arsenal boss now has a huge amount to prove with the Gunners seemingly falling at the final hurdle in the battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
