Report: Rak-Sakyi could start for Crystal Palace against Tottenham
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is pushing for a start for Crystal Palace versus Tottenham this weekend, according to football.london.
Injuries and poor form could provide the starlet with an opportunity this weekend.
Michael Olasie has only just returned from a back injury, with the Palace coaching staff potentially hesitant to throw him straight in. Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew has failed to score in the Premier League since last November.
The 18-year-old has been in fine form for the Eagles since moving to the club from Chelsea in 2019.
His performances earned him a debut in the Premier League opener against the Blues.
Rak-Sakyi also got his debut on the international scene for England’s under-20s yesterday. The young star scored for Andy Edwards’ side to cap off a 6-1 win against Romania.
Vieira needs to be wary of implementing too much youth too soon
Under Roy Hodgson, there were far too many older, experienced heads at the side.
Aside from Wilfried Zaha, there was very little pace in the team under the retired manager.
Now, under Patrick Vieira, the scales seem to have tipped to the other side.
Youngsters like Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell have been ever-presents in the Premier League, while Conor Gallagher has played a big role.
But the Frenchman needs to be careful not to implement too many youngsters like Rak-Sakyi for Crystal Palace against Tottenham.
Arsenal have shown how dangerously wrong a team can get it when playing too many youngsters.
Folarin Balogun, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Albert Sambi Lokonga all started during the 2-0 defeat to Brentford.
The Bees outsmarted a young Gunners side that looked massively out of their depth.
Palace and Vieira need to ensure they do not make a similar mistake this weekend.
