Rafa Benitez would be open to holding talks with Everton as the Toffees look to appoint their next manager, according to a report from The Athletic.
Everton lost Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid this week. It was an incredible turn of events, but it appears that the club have already put together an extensive list of potential targets.

The likes of David Moyes, Roberto Martinez and Frank Lampard are reportedly on their radar.
But there are a number of other names seemingly being discussed. And one of those may be Benitez.
The Spaniard, of course, spent a large portion of his managerial career on Merseyside, so an appointment may not go down well with many Everton fans.

But it seems that Benitez is not planning to shut the door on the idea.
According to The Athletic, the 61-year-old is open to holding talks with the Toffees about the post.
Benitez a big name, but Everton should look in different direction for next manager
On paper, Benitez may appear an ideal successor to someone with Ancelotti’s stature.
The pair have worked with many of the world’s biggest clubs. And they have won many of the world’s biggest trophies.
However, it is difficult to argue that appointing Benitez would be a step in the right direction.
Many supporters will, understandably, struggle to get on board with a former Liverpool manager coming in.
It would certainly make it all the more imperative that Benitez hits the ground running. And that may not be the best formula for long-term success at Goodison Park.
It may be an appointment works out better than anyone could have hoped. Benitez is a world-class manager with a hugely impressive CV.
But it is surely fair to say that it would be a huge roll of the dice from the Everton hierarchy given the reaction they can surely expect if they turn to Benitez.
