Report: QPR to sign 'exceptional' full-back once tipped to play at the highest level

QPR are reportedly planning to go ahead with the signing of Moses Odubajo.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by Sheffield Wednesday.

Odubajo has been training with the R’s with a view to signing if he proves his fitness.

The full-back featured in a recent behind-closed-doors game against Portsmouth and was due to play in a friendly at Gillingham on Friday.

Even though the Gills fixture was postponed, it looks as though Odubajo has done enough to impress the QPR coaches.

According to West London Sport, the R’s intend to bring him in as Todd Kane’s replacement.

The outlet claims Odubajo will compete with Osman Kakay for a place on the right, though he can also play on the left.

“Top player for many years to come”

Odubajo has previously played under Mark Warburton at Brentford.

In 2015, when the two worked together at Griffin Park, the manager tipped Odubajo for the “highest level”.

“I think Moses will go all the way to the Premier League,” Warburton told MyLondon.

“He’s got the attributes and that sheer raw pace. I’ve got no doubts that Mo will play at the highest level.”

Odubajo helped Hull to Premier League promotion in 2015-16, though he sadly suffered a long-term knee ligament injury before the top-flight season got under way.

“He was exceptional for us last season as we won promotion back to the Premier League,” the Daily Record quotes Steve Bruce as saying at the time.

“And we expect him to be a top player for many years to come.”
