Arsenal defender William Saliba has attracted an enquiry from PSV Eindhoven ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report from Football London.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to see Saliba staying in North London beyond next month. The defender is still waiting for the chance to make his senior debut for the Gunners.

While that would be understandable if Mikel Arteta’s men were flying, fans have been left more and more baffled by the situation with Arsenal continuing to struggle.

It appears that a loan move next month could make sense for both Arsenal and Saliba. And it seems that there has been no shortage of interest.

Football London notes that clubs from Germany, Italy and Spain are all monitoring the £28 million teenager. And they add that PSV have now made an enquiry.

TBR View: PSV move could help restore Saliba’s confidence, but may not alleviate all of Arteta’s concerns

Joining PSV would see Saliba thrown into a title race. Roger Schmidt’s men are second in the Eredivisie, just one point behind Ajax.

Of course, joining PSV may hand Saliba a fantastic chance to restore any confidence lost over the past few months. But moving to the Netherlands could also be deemed something of a gamble.

Saliba impressed during his loan spell in Ligue 1 last year. And yet, that has seemingly meant little following his arrival into Arteta’s ranks.

The Eredivisie is arguably a league with a similar level of stature to France’s top flight. So it will surely be more difficult for Saliba to prove that he is ready for Arsenal if he joins PSV.
