Liverpool target, David Alaba, has had a fresh offer presented to him in the form of Maurcio Pochettino’s PSG, according to Sky Germany.
Alaba is said to be a target for the Reds. ESPN claimed just last week that Liverpool and Chelsea were still pressing for the Austrian defender, despite claims Real Madrid have an agreement in place.
But it appears there is more than just Madrid who are willing to put up the cash to secure Alaba. PSG are now said to be ‘intensifying’ their pursuit of the Bayern star, who can leave for nothing this summer.
The versatile Alaba is well sought after across Europe. His performances, plus his capability to play numerous positions, means he’s one of the very best in the world at what he does.
Liverpool were desperate for new defenders in January, and are likely to go again in the summer. Jurgen Klopp is well aware of Alaba given his connections to German football. However, the Reds boss would appear to face an increasingly difficult task in landing Alaba now.
The Austrian is highly-rated by numerous players and coaches. Those include Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who has previously sung the praises of Alaba.
TBR View: Alaba world class, but likely to slip the net for Liverpool
Liverpool have every right to believe they can land David Alaba. They’re Premier League champions, with one of the best managers in world football in charge.
However, they won’t have the spending power of Madrid or PSG, who will likely offer Alaba astronomical sums in order to secure his signature.
Alaba would be a superb signing for the Reds. But in all reality, it’s looking increasingly like he’ll be off to Europe, rather than the UK.
