Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is now wanted by PSG as well as Barcelona, according to a report from French outlet, Le Parisien.
Wijnaldum has been widely courted by Barcelona in recent months, with the Dutchman still yet to sign fresh terms with the Reds.
One of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield regulars, Wijnaldum is said to be on around £75k-a-week at Anfield. However, the club have yet to convince him to pen fresh terms, meaning he has just months to run on his deal.
However, Barcelona’s financial troubles could throw any move to the Nou Camp into doubt. And it seems now that PSG are ready to swoop and put an offer forward for the impressive Dutch star.
It’s seeming less and less likely that Wijnaldum will sign a new deal. A move to PSG, then, with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino in charge, could well appeal to the Liverpool man.
TBR View: PSG is a huge move, Wijnaldum could be off here
There can’t be a way that Wijnaldum stays put here. Surely he’d have signed a new contract with the Reds by now if he was staying put?
PSG’s interest just makes his situation even more untenable. Obviously, he had his eyes on a move to Barcelona, but PSG’s interest is massive, and he’d be hard pressed to turn that down.
Wijnaldum is a quality player who seems to have ran his course somewhat with the Reds. A move to PSG, though, could well give him another lease of life.
