Report: PSG confident of signing Skriniar; Arsenal boost, but bad for Spurs
PSG are now confident of signing Milan Skriniar this summer, according to Foot Mercato, in news that may disappoint Tottenham Hotspur, but also hand a boost to Arsenal.
Foot Mercato reports that PSG believe that they could now quickly complete a deal for Skriniar. That is something of a surprise given reports from earlier this week.
The Ligue 1 side planned to offer £43.4 million for the Slovakia international. But Inter had set a £60 million asking price. So it seemed that there was some distance between the two.

However, PSG are now optimistic that a deal for Skriniar could be wrapped up soon. And that may well be a blow for Tottenham and boss Antonio Conte.
Conte worked with Skriniar at San Siro. And reports claimed that the 27-year-old was one of the centre-backs on his radar this summer. Of course, Spurs have seemingly missed out on signing his Inter teammate Alessandro Bastoni.
So it would appear that another Inter defender may be about to disappoint them.
However, the news is better for the other North London heavyweight.
PSG confident of signing Skriniar – bad news for Tottenham, but Arsenal will be pleased
The report on PSG’s plans to offer £43.4 million noted that they had alternative targets in mind. And one of the names on their radar was Gabriel Magalhaes.
Gabriel has grown considerably in the last 12 months. And he is now the leader of the Arsenal backline. So it would be a huge blow to lose him.
The Gunners may have been confident of holding onto the Brazilian. However, a move to Parc des Princes would obviously present the defender with the chance to play in the Champions League.
But it seems that PSG will not have to worry about their other targets. Skriniar looks to be on his way to the French capital in the coming weeks.
Tottenham will have to look elsewhere for their centre-back signing. Arsenal meanwhile, have seen off one potential battle to keep one of their most important players.
