Report provides encouraging update on Arsenal's Kieran Tierney

Arsenal may soon receive a big injury boost with The Athletic reporting that scans on Kieran Tierney’s injury are thought to have come back clear.

Tierney has missed the Gunners’ last five games due to a problem with his right leg. It has been a big blow for Mikel Arteta’s men with the left-back proving to be one of the side’s best performers throughout the season.

And you could understand why supporters may have greater concerns. Tierney endured a tough first campaign in North London following his £25 million move (fee reported by Sky Sports), making just 24 appearances in all competitions after a couple of injury issues.

But it appears that there may be some positive news on its way. According to The Athletic, scans on Tierney’s current injury are thought to have come back clear.

It is also suggested that fatigue may be behind the issue rather than something more problematic. And it is hoped that he will not be out for much longer.

Arsenal have lost three of the five games they have played since Tierney’s last appearance. That is not all down to his absence, of course. And they were outstanding for much of the first-half in the 2-1 loss at Wolves.

But there is no question that not having Tierney has hurt them. The Scotland international has been a revelation for Arteta’s men this season.

His performances, along with those of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, seemed to inspire Arsenal’s turnaround after Christmas.

They now need to turn their fortunes around once again. But the positive news is that it may not be too long before Tierney is back in the fold.
