Report: Premier League rivals being used to up price-tag for Tottenham target Sergio Reguilon

Tottenham Hotspur are still expected to sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon, according to Forbes.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the defender, who impressed whilst on loan at Sevilla last season.

MARCA have reported this summer that Tottenham are keen on the player, who could cost up to £22 million. OK Diario then suggested that Jose Mourinho had even been in contact with the player regarding a potential move to North London.

However, despite the impending exit of Danny Rose, the general consensus is that Tottenham do not need left-back cover, with Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Dennis Cirkin and Harvey White all capable of filling the role.

But Forbes suggests otherwise. They claim that Reguilon is expected to join Tottenham. In fact, it is even suggested that Premier League rivals’ Manchester United’s continued reported interest is being driven by the Spanish side in order to boost his asking price.

Football.London recently reported that a move for Reguilon could be possible, if he became available at a reasonable price. This appears to be the opposite of what is currently happening with Real Madrid ready to squeeze every penny out of his impressive form in the Europa League for champions Sevilla last term.

Tottenham could undoubtedly benefit from Reguilon’s place in the team. However, with Real seemingly playing transfer games, it would be unlikely for Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to play along.
