Everton’s potential move for Salomon Rondon has been blocked due to financial complications, the Athletic report.
No reunion
Everton are battling to stay within the Financial Fair Play constraints, which means that they are finding it difficult to make any lavish signings this summer.
Rondon actually could have been a fairly cheap option, given that he is now 31 and unlikely to cost a vast fee.
However, the Venezuelan would have commanded a sizeable wage.
Financial issues
And it seems that any move to Goodison Park has now fallen through, due to the financial complications in the transfer.
Rafael Benitez had been keen to link back up with the striker, who he enjoyed a successful time working with at Newcastle United, but the deal has now collapsed.

Whether Everton could return for Rodon if they offload the likes of James Rodriguez or Moise Kean remains to be seen.
But with their budget so tight, it seems that the Toffees will have to look elsewhere if they want to land striking cover any time soon.
