The Daily Mail have claimed that Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts is undergoing intensive treatment and therapy to declare himself fit for Saturday evening’s clash against Derby County.

The 20-year-old has broken into the Leeds side this season under Marcelo Bielsa, and impressed in a number of positions. Currently, he is being used as an attacking midfielder alongside Mateusz Klich.

But ahead of Saturday evening’s first-leg play-off clash, Bielsa ruled out Wales international Roberts in his Thursday press conference – as well as informing fans that Pontus Jansson is struggling with an ankle issue.

Jansson said he would play in a wheelchair if he had to, but Roberts looked set to miss the clash at Pride Park. But the Mail reckon he still has a chance of proving his fitness.

Roberts, who joined Leeds for about £2.5million (BBC) in January 2018, has impressed Bielsa with his speed and composure in the final third. Whether he can prove his fitness, though, remains to be seen.

TBR’s view

Losing Roberts is a big blow to Leeds, given that they are lacking in depth anyway – especially in attack. His ability to play out wide, in attacking midfield or up front could be crucial as Leeds look to surpass Derby.

So, the latest report suggests that there is a chance he could play on Saturday and an even bigger chance for the second leg. It comes as a big boost to Leeds.
