Report: Piotr Zieliński has rejected £37.7m West Ham move

West Ham were one step away from agreeing a deal with Napoli for Piotr Zielinski, but the Poland international has rejected a move to the London Stadium, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

Zielinski is one of a number of midfield targets on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the final weeks of the window. Reports have claimed that Arthur Melo is aware that David Moyes’ men want the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, they are considering making a second bid for Amadou Onana. And perhaps, their desire to sign Onana may have just increased.

That is because it appears that a move for Zielinski is currently off the table – but only after West Ham got agonisingly close to agreeing a deal.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that a fee was one step away from being finalised. West Ham were prepared to pay up to £37.7 million for the 28-year-old. That involved just over £25.1 million being paid up front.

West Ham also made an offer to Zielinski himself. He would have earned over £56,000-a-week over three years with the Hammers.

Zielinski has, however rejected the move. And only a change of heart will lead to talks restarting.

Zielinski rejected West Ham move

The news may come as a real disappointment for West Ham fans. But they have other targets in mind. And you would imagine that they will not wait too long to pursue other names.

West Ham have seemingly done all they can to convince Zielinski. They have made an offer Napoli were seemingly happy with. And the former Udinese man would have been on a very decent contract.

But that was clearly not enough to convince Zielinski to move to the Premier League.
