Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is reported to be keen on a return to the Bundesliga, according to Sky Germany.

Xhaka joined Arsenal in 2016 from Borussia Monchengladbach for £35million and has made 211 competitive appearances for the North Londoners.

His time at the Emirates Stadium has been eventful to say the least, with some highs and some lows.

The highs include two FA Cup victories, while the lows include his public fall-out with Arsenal fans in October 2019 and his red card against Burnley.

Xhaka remains very much in Mikel Arteta’s plans at present, with 36 appearances in all competitions including 24 Premier League starts.

However, Sky Germany believes the 28-year-old could soon be looking to move away, suggesting he’s interested in returning to Germany.

Xhaka was close to sealing a move to Hertha Berlin just over a year ago and the report claims the capital club could be back in for the Switzerland captain.

TBR View:

Xhaka is a player Arteta has previously described as “phenomenal”, and he’ll surely not want his midfield enforcer to leave.

However, if the player himself wants to move, particularly as he came close to leaving not that long ago, then the Gunners may as well try to cash in on him.

With just over two years left on his contract, their hand would be fairly strong in negotiations.
