Manchester City could once again move for Tottenham and England striker, Harry Kane, with a report from The Athletic detailing how Pep Guardiola views Kane as his perfect signing.

City and Spurs were involved in a summer long saga regarding Kane. There was serious talk of him making the move to The Etihad, but in the end, Daniel Levy simply wouldn’t budge on his valuation. Since then, Kane has struggled for form, but has picked of up late under Antonio Conte.

But The Athletic claims all is not done and dusted. Their report states how sources close to City accept that Kane remains very much Pep Guardiola’s number one choice in 2022. It is conceded that a move in January is impossible, but a repeat of last summer isn’t out of the question.

Spurs were said to be seeking around £150m for Kane in the summer. Of course, City were unwilling to pay that and in the end opted for a £100m spend on Jack Grealish. However, Guardiola has been vocal about the need for City to bring in a striker soon.

It seems, then, that we could be set for round two in the summer.

TBR’s View: Harry Kane To Manchester City Seems Inevitable

Things are picking up at Spurs with Antonio Conte in charge. That in itself is a plus point for the club, and they’ll hope that this upturn in form and situation helps convince Kane to stay.

But, City are so so successful. And if Kane still wants those trophies, then he needs to be moving quickly.

City would be almost unstoppable with Harry Kane up top. They are already looking unbelievably good without a main number nine, so the thought of them with one of the world’s best goal scorers is frigthening.

Levy might well stick to his guns on the price. But in the end, it does seem like Kane will end up at City.
