The Daily Record have claimed that Pedro Caixinha wants to launch an ambitious move to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos this summer, and lure the Colombian to Mexican side Cruz Azul.
Morelos, 22, is likely to be on the radar of plenty of clubs all over the globe this summer after scoring a huge 30 goals in 49 league and cup encounters for Rangers but he remains amid huge controversy, because of his discipline.
Indeed, the striker was sent off five times last season – his last red card seeing him suspended for four matches. Last season, Rangers slapped a £20million price tag on his head but it remains to be seen if there could be a compromise.
Caixinha was the man to lure Morelos to Ibrox in the summer of 2017, completing a £1million (Sun) deal to sign the Colombia cap from Finnish side HJK Helsinki. Morelos did sign a new contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2023.

Cruz Azul have not been shy in terms of spending big recently. £10 million has been spent on Orbelin Pineda, while Juan Escobar cost £6million and a further £6 million was tabled for Milton Caraglio.
TBR’s view
The Mexican league, though growing in stature, is hardly an improvement on the Scottish Premiership. Morelos would be foolish to return to Cruz Azul, swapping Rangers for the Mexican side in the process.
If Morelos is to leave Rangers this summer, it needs to be a club that are playing in European competition. The likes of Marseille have constantly been linked, as well as a transfer to a Turkish side.
Morelos is fighting for a place in the Rangers side alongside Jermain Defoe after the veteran ended the campaign in stunning form. A move to Cruz Azul would be a step down.
