Report: Paratici determined to land Gleison Bremer for Tottenham

Tottenham transfer supremo, Fabio Paratici, is desperate to land Torino defender Gleison Bremer in January, according to reports from Italy.

Calciomercato claims that Bremer is top of the shopping list for Paratici, who is taking steps to try and secure the Brazilian’s signing ahead of of a number of other clubs. It’s suggested by CM that Paratici has a ‘clear intention’ to bring Bremer to England.

Bremer has a contract with the Serie A side until 2023. However, with that being just 18 months away, it also means Spurs won’t need to break the bank either. TeamTalk reports that Torino could sell Bremer for around £21m.

The 24-year-old defender has been a shining light for Torino this term. He’s appeared 14 times, playing 90 minutes in all but one of those games and missing just a solitary match through injury.

It is believed Tottenham want to sign a new defender to ensure there is enough depth in the squad to cope with Cristian Romero’s injury. Spurs are expected to be busy in January, with Conte wanting to see both ins and outs in North London.

TBR’s View: Bremer could be perfect Tottenham signing

It’s such a shame to see Romero injured. He was just starting to really look the part and that injury has robbed Tottenham of a top defender.

But the club will be encouraged by Romero when it comes to their pursuit of Bremer. Clearly, this is a reliable defender who is seen by his current club as a key man. At 24, he is at the ideal age to not only play from the off, but develop into an even better all-round defender.

At just over £20m, Bremer might prove a bargain as well. Given Romero cost more than £50m, getting one of Serie A’s other premier defenders for less than half that price, seems wise business.
