Report: Palace close to £18m swoop for Euro 2020 star; London rivals looked set to sign him
Crystal Palace are close to signing Lyon defender and reported Tottenham target Joachim Andersen.
According to the Standard, Palace have agreed to a €22m (£18m) deal for the Danish international. The fee could rise as high as €27m (£23m) due to add-ons.
Andersen will become Patrick Vieira’s third major signing of the summer after Michael Olise and Marc Guehi.
Plenty of players from last season have left the club this summer as free agents. As per the report, the south London side are keen to bring in more signings.
Andersen was heavily linked with a move to Spurs this summer as well as the likes of Arsenal and West Ham United. However, Palace have beaten their London rivals to the Euro 2020 star.
The defender was one of Fulham’s best performing players last season despite being relegated with the Cottagers.
Lyon are eager to sell this summer given the financial crisis that has hit French football over the past 12 months. Meaning Andersen was available for transfer.
It has been an exciting summer so far for Palace. And Vieira is making some impressive moves in the window to not only improve the squad but to also lower the average age of the team.
With Olise and Guehi already signed, Andersen looks set to be the next piece of the puzzle for Palace ahead of the new season.
