Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is no longer a target for Fiorentina, according to Firenze Viola.

The Italian outlet claims that the Gunners had been in negotiations with the Serie A club over the 24-year-old, but discussions have now ended.

Fiorentina reportedly offered Arsenal an “ultimatum” offer of €25m (around £22.5m) for Torreira, to be paid in two instalments.

However, the Emirates Stadium camp wasn’t willing to reduce their asking price of €30m (around £27m), and as such, the Viola will now look elsewhere, added the report.

Arsenal signed Torreira for a reported £26million in 2018 and the Uruguay international has made 89 competitive appearances for the Gunners to date, claiming 10 goal contributions.

His £75,000-a-week contract at Arsenal runs until the summer of 2023.

Torreira has done well enough for Arsenal since his arrival from Sampdoria in 2018 but most of his game time after the return of English football came off the bench.

In addition, the player hasn’t appeared overly settled in England – he admitted in 2019 that he missed life in Italy, as reported by Goal.com.

While discussions with Fiorentina are now apparently over, fellow Italians Torino are still believed to be in pursuit of Torreira, as has been reported by The Sun, so he could still leave this summer.
