Glasgow Rangers defender George Edmundson is reportedly on the verge of leaving Ibrox.

According to the Daily Record, the Gers centre-back is closing in on a permanent switch south of the border.

Edmundson has reportedly travelled down to Ipswich for his medical ahead of an initial £1million move.

Rangers could also be set for a windfall if the English club earns promotion from League One, added the report.

Edmundson joined Rangers from Oldham in June 2019 for a reported £800,000.

The 6ft 3in ace looked set for a bright future at Ibrox as he put in some bright displays early on.

Rangers to sell player once deemed “faultless”?

Edmundson’s Scottish Premiership debut, in a 5-0 win over Hamilton, saw Steven Gerrard sing his player’s praises.

“[Edmundson] was faultless,” the Glasgow Times quoted Gerrard as saying.

“Really strong, he’s been out a little while looking in.

“I wanted him to get used to how we play and have a look at our opposition.

“He’s looked in, been learning and working ever so hard for his opportunity.

“That came today and he took it, I thought he was faultless. Outstanding.”

However, Edmundson lost his place in the side, before an off-the-field issue saw him hit with a domestic suspension.

He then joined Derby on loan in the second half of last season before he returned for pre-season at Rangers.
