Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is listening to offers from Liverpool despite interest from Manchester United, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
Dembele has decided to listen to an offer from Liverpool and the Reds and now weighing up whether to make a move.
It’s been claimed that the 23-year-old was set to snub the Anfield advances but it would appear he’s now changed that approach.
Dembele isn’t in the reckoning under new boss Ronald Koeman but whether a club can complete a deal for him before the transfer deadline remains to be seen.
Of Barcelona’s three matches so far this season he has played just 20 minutes and it would appear the Catalans would be prepared to let him leave.
Dembele cost Barcelona £135 million from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.
The speedster has since made 75 appearances for the La Liga giants, scoring 19 times and registering 16 assists.
Barcelona want a maximum of £54 million for the player not considered part of Koeman’s plans, with the club willing to cut their losses.
Liverpool have signed Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota so far this summer and now fancy Dembele.
Sadio Mane is currently in isolation and it could take him a few weeks to return to top form.
The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson could leave on deadline day and with that in mind, Dembele might be an ideal addition.
Dembele is paid £208,000-a-week at Barcelona and it would take quite a deal to land the France international.
TBR View – Dembele has attributes that would help him shine at Liverpool
Dembele would be a useful addition for Liverpool not least because he has a strong skill set for a Jurgen Klopp system.
He can play out wide or through the middle and his desire is to constantly run at defenders and force them onto the back foot.
His pace is terrifying and that too would help him shine at Liverpool.
Whether a deal can be done today remains to be seen but if not and he doesn’t go elsewhere, it’ll be one for Liverpool to watch in the windows to come.
