Olympiacos are in the race to sign Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson on loan in the summer, according to a report from Football London.

It has been a frustrating season for Nelson in North London. He went into the campaign off the back of a season in which he made 17 Premier League appearances.

This term however, he has only played twice in the top flight. Meanwhile, he has played six times in Premier League 2 with the under-23s.

And it appears that he could be on the move this summer. According to Football London, Olympiacos are interested in taking the 21-year-old on loan ahead of next season.

The report adds that Nelson will have one year left on his contract at the Emirates this summer. It is claimed that plans for talks over his future will be made in the coming weeks.

TBR View: Next move looks crucial for Nelson’s Arsenal future

Olympiacos are on the cusp of booking their spot in next season’s Champions League. So there could be an opportunity for the youngster to impress on a big stage should he join the Greek side.

However, joining them would arguably leave Nelson with a tough task as he looks to prove a point to Arsenal.

Given his contract situation and his struggles this season, the next year could be a pivotal one in his career. It was only last March that Mikel Arteta labelled him ‘special’ (via London Evening Standard).

But moving to the Greek top flight will surely not make it easy for Nelson to show the kind of form that catches Arteta’s eye.
