According to the Express & Star, West Bromwich Albion attacker Oli Burke is set for a loan move to La Liga side Alaves.
The 22-year-old forward has struggled to settle in at the Hawthorns since his 2017 move from RB Leipzig. However, he was able to impress during a loan stint at Celtic last season. The Baggies will be hoping that he can continue his development with a second loan spell this season.
Given that he would have to compete with the likes of Chris Willock, Matt Phillips, Matheus Pereira, Hal-Robson Kanu and Grady Diangana at the Hawthorns this season, a move away on loan offers him a better chance of getting regular football.
If Burke is to make it at West Brom then he needs to make the most of this season. The eight-cap Scotland international is very talented but hasn’t shown his best for the Baggies yet. Another season of development elsewhere though could help him flourish for West Brom in the long term.
Time could be running out for Burke at West Brom. In 24 career appearances for the club, he has managed just one goal and three assists. If Burke fails to impress in Spain, then West Brom should consider offloading him permanently.
