Newcastle United do not have to wait until the summer to sign loanee Jetro Willems, according to a report by the Northern Echo.

They report that a 11 million euro (£9.3 million) fee has been agreed between the Magpies and Eintracht Frankfurt to sign the Dutchman.

And the report also states that deal can be finalised next month rather than requiring Steve Bruce to wait until the end of the season.

Willems, 25, has been impressive this term in a position where Newcastle have needed reinforcements for years and that raises the likelihood that Bruce will swoop to seal the deal in January.

TBR’s View – Worth sorting Willems’ future and building on recent momentum

This season is going better than many Newcastle fans might have expected before it kicked off and another way to build on that surprise momentum would be to tie down a player who has been one of the best performers this season.

Willems is the right age to improve further and even though Newcastle have the option to sign him at the end of the season, getting his future sorted would likely be best for all parties.

A deal of under £10 million for a full back is a decent price in this era.
