Olympiacos are interested in signing Joao Carvalho during the January transfer window in a deal that could net Nottingham Forest £15 million, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (15/12; page 61).

Carvalho appears to be something of a divisive figure at the City Ground. There have been flashes of brilliance since his arrival last summer, but his form this season has come in for plenty of criticism.

And it appears that he could soon be on the way out of the club if reports are correct. The Sun on Sunday (15/12; page 61) reports that Olympiacos want the 22-year-old.

With Evangelos Marinakis owning both clubs, it would appear that a deal may be easier to arrange. The report notes that Forest could receive £15 million for the youngster.

The Sun on Sunday adds that Sabri Lamouchi is set to target two or three signings in January. So it is likely that he would welcome the funds.

TBR View – £15m looks a good deal for Forest

With Carvalho producing a poor performance in Saturday’s heavy defeat, it would not be a surprise if there were more Forest fans in favour of a January sale.

Unfortunately, it appears that Carvalho may simply be a player destined to largely frustrate the fans – and perhaps, never manage to fully win them over.

Of course, there will be some who want him to stay. Forest are challenging for promotion. And they will feel that Lamouchi needs as many game-changers in his ranks as possible.

But if the chance to boost his transfer kitty by £15 million presents itself and paves the way for a handful of new signings in January, perhaps Forest would be wise to let him go.
