Nottingham Forest are amongst a group of Championship sides interested in signing Wigan Athletic forward Josh Windass, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Sabri Lamouchi’s men are right in the promotion mix this season. They sit four points off the top two, and they are one of the most in-form teams in the division right now.
Unsurprisingly however, Forest appear to have their eye on further reinforcements. Lamouchi has already brought Adama Diakhaby in from Huddersfield, and it appears that he is hoping to sign another attacking player from one of their Championship rivals.
According to the Daily Mail, Forest want Windass, but they face competition from the likes of Cardiff City and Bristol City for his signature.
The 26-year-old has scored four goals in 15 games for the Latics this season. The Mail reports that he is expected to cost around £500,000.
TBR View – £500,000 move for Windass could be inspired
Windass has done fairly well since joining Wigan from Rangers. He has scored nine league goals since the start of last season.
It is maybe not a move that will immediately capture the imagination, but he arguably has the ability to make a £500,000 deal look inspired.
The former Accrington Stanley man is capable of playing almost anywhere in attack. So he can provide some much-needed support for Lewis Grabban at the City Ground.
With Diakhaby already on board, Forest appear to be doing some shrewd business this month. Bringing Windass in could certainly prove to be a fantastic decision.
