Report: Nottingham Forest want Emerson Palmieri and Borna Barisic
Nottingham Forest have their eye on Rangers left-back Borna Barisic and Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri, with the Daily Mail reporting that the pair are amongst the latest targets the club want.
Forest continue to bolster their squad. The club announced on Saturday that they have brought in both Emmanuel Dennis and Cheikhou Kouyate.
But they are not done there, it seems. The Daily Mail reports that they are closing in on landing Neal Maupay from Brighton in a £10 million deal.
And they are also looking to strengthen at the back, too. According to the Mail, Forest are keen on Barisic, with Emerson Palmieri also on the radar.
It would probably be no surprise to see Emerson leave Chelsea before the transfer deadline passes. The Italy international spent last season on loan with Lyon. And of course, Thomas Tuchel’s men have strengthened their ranks in that area of the field with the arrival of Marc Cucurella.
Rangers meanwhile, may have much greater reservations about selling Barisic. The Croatian has featured in all three of their Scottish Premiership games so far this season.
Nottingham Forest want Barisic and Emerson
Forest have certainly not stood still in this window. Of course, the club needed to make signings with a number of their key players last season no longer being at the City Ground.
The concern will obviously be whether all of the new additions can gel together. Many are arriving after pre-season. And they need to hit the ground running.
Both Emerson and Barisic are players with a lot of quality. Thomas Tuchel labelled the former an ‘unbelievable‘ person during the early stages of his tenure.
That will appeal to Steve Cooper given how the squad thrived last season.
One thing that is for certain is that Forest are not done yet in this window.
