Report: Nottingham Forest now eye up move for seriously 'clever' PL player, but he'll be very expensive

Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a shock move for Southampton striker Che Adams, according to the Daily Express

Forest are on the lookout for another striker, despite smashing their club-record transfer fee by signing Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin for £17 million (BBC). And now they reportedly have their sights set on bringing Adams to the City ground.

But the Daily Express reports that it will take an ‘irresistible offer’ for the Saints to even consider selling Adams.

According to the report, Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his squad with another forward, with Everton’s Moise Kean and former Leicester City striker Islam Slimani on the list of options.

Adams was described as a ‘seriously clever’ player by Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist in March.

The Scotland International made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Saints last season, registering 8 goals and 3 assists. Given the amount of times he played for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, you can see why the club may be reluctant to sell.

The Daily Express added that Forest appreciate that it would be difficult to complete a deal for Adams this summer.

TBR’s View: Forest May Be Priced Out Of Deal For Adams

As Forest have already broken their record transfer fee on signing a striker this summer, it’s difficult to see them breaking it for a second time on a player in the same position. And with Southampton being reluctant to allow Adams to leave, it seems like this is a deal that is unlikely to come off.

But if Forest were to pull off an unlikely deal for Adams, it would undoubtedly be a great signing for the newly promoted side. The Scotsman has played in the Premier League for three years now and while his goal scoring record isn’t brilliant, he would add some know-how into Steve Cooper’s team.
