Report: Nottingham Forest in talks over signing 'relentless' full-back, same agency as Henderson

Nottingham Forest are in talks with Bayern Munich over Omar Richards, according to The Athletic.

The Reds have been busy in the summer transfer window following their promotion to the Premier League.

Forest have bought striker Taiwo Awoniyi and defender Giulian Biancone.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Dean Henderson has joined on loan from Manchester United.

In addition, the City Ground outfit is closing in on Mainz centre-back Moussa Niakhate, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Now, Forest are apparently looking to sign a pair of left-sided wing-backs this summer.

And Richards is said to be one of the full-backs on the radar of Reds boss Steve Cooper.

According to The Athletic, Forest are in talks with Bayern over the 24-year-old, as are French outlet Lyon.

And the Daily Mail claims the Bavarians want £10million for Richards.

Richards – part of the ICM Stellar Sports agency alongside Henderson – joined Bayern from Reading last summer.

The former England Under-21 international made 12 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.

“Attributes which every team in football is looking for”

With Lucas Hernandez back fit and Alphonso Davies available after suffering mild myocarditis, Richards might struggle for game time at Bayern next term.

This could play into Forest’s hands, as they’d be bringing in yet another top-quality addition.

Former Reading coach Jaap Stam said (via the Bundesliga website): “Omar is a left-back with a lot of quality on the ball, pace and real drive going forward.

“And those are attributes which every team in football is looking for in a player.”

The Bundesliga website also compared Richards’ style of play to that of fellow Bayern full-back Alphonso Davies.

‘It’s clear to see why Bayern have turned to Richards as cover and competition for Davies at left-back,’ they wrote last year.

‘Physically, Richards’ 5’7″ frame quite literally doesn’t stand up to the 6’0″ Davies.

“But Bayern’s latest import does centre his game on relentless work rate, enviable athleticism, pace and dribbling – as does Davies.

‘Like his new teammate, he’s also more than capable of plying his trade further forward as a winger.’
